MGM+ renews horror and suspense series The Institute for a second season

MGM+, MGM's streaming service, announced today that the horror and suspense series The Institute, based on Stephen King's best-selling novel, has been renewed for a second season of eight episodes. Executive produced by the writer—who confirmed the new season on his X account—directed and executive produced by Jack Bender (Lost, Game of Thrones, Mr. Mercedes, FROM), and executive produced and written by Benjamin Cavell (Justified, The Stand), the series is from MGM+ Studios. The new season will be released exclusively on MGM+ in the US, UK, Germany, Italy, Spain, Netherlands, Belgium, Brazil, Mexico, Chile, and Colombia. Amazon MGM Studios Distribution will distribute in all other international territories.

The Institute was the best premiere ever on MGM+.

The first season starred Ben Barnes (Shadow and Bone, The Punisher, Westworld), Mary-Louise Parker (Weeds), Joe Freeman, and a cast that includes Simone Miller (Run the Burbs), Fionn Laird (Under the Banner of Heaven), Jason Diaz, and Jane Luk. The cast for the second season will be announced at a later date.
